Our church...

Why build a church at the dawn of the 3rd Millenary ?

It's important, It's a matter of urgency.
The creation of a Pastoral Centre in the heart of Marne-La-Vallée
is a major neccessity.

In fact, each of the 10 churches of the Parish
Bussy Saint-Georges, Bussy Saint-Martin, Chanteloup, Collégien, Conches, Ferrières
Gouvernes, Guermantes, Montévrain, Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes
cannot greet more than a hundred persons.

The population of the new city which is growing day after day
has already 2500 residents.

What's more 50 to 6000 residents are awaited at the skyline of the skyline of the year 2000.

How to liven and organize the spiritual life of such an important population ?

The only way is to build a church able to meet this new congregation.

The Architectural Project

Henry GONOT and Philippe MARCENAC
are the two architects whose projects have been held.

NOTRE-DAME-Du-VAL is the church of the future with it's Dome of forty metres diameter
and 12 meters high - with it's tall bell tower and its glass arrow reaching up to
thirty-five meters.

Capacity to greet 1100 persons.

The Symbolic

NOTRE-DAME-Du-VAL proposes a symbolic lecture of it's main architecture.

Therefore, the circle of its dome carries the symbol of the community of christians altogether.

The church bell and it's arrow flying represents the momentum of faith.

Other symbols will come out to bring out the edifice.
Nothing has been left to ramdom in order to respect the tradition of Cathedral builders.

Our edifice in construction represents the following targets :

The Church :

Visible sign of the christian's presence;

Landmark of the new city;

A spiritual call in a world permeated with materialism;

Place of religeous celebration concerning 10 parishes in the pastoral sector;

Place of worship;

Oratory.

Pastoral centre:

Animation center of Pastoral Meetings;

Meeting Point for Associations;

Place for listening, talking and sharing;

Welcoming Point;

Meeting rooms;

Library - Documentation;

Secretary's office, Record Office;

Accomodations Intergrated.
